This morning I was very fotunate to be invited to attend a tasting of Padingon Deli and Epicerie’s Spring Breakfast and Lunch Menu and boy was I in for a treat! We started bright and early at 6.30 and were treated to various items from the menu, all of which I can confidently say were incredible. The owners have years of experience in the industry and a passion for all things food, especially of the gourmet and artisan variety! With an extremely talented chef, as much as possible is hand made or using if not, uses honest and trusted ingredients from the grocery section of the store. First we cooled off with the café special, the spring frappe. Made from orange, carrot and apple juice with mint, ginger and lime, it was super refreshing! I followed it with a delicious almond milk latte (plus plus for almond milk woo!!). The breakfast dishes included the gluten-free zucchini & corn fritters served with avocado salsa and house pickled red onions, potato rosti w scrambled eggs, smoked salmon & fried baby capers, Stu’s own toasted deli muesli w natural yoghurt, strawberries & grated apple and the Big Deli breakfast with the speciality of special Visco Fine Foods chorizo, herb stuff field mushrooms, free range bacon.
The lunch menu items were especially impressive and right down any foodie’s or healthspo’s avenue! Middle Eastern spiced crispy skin chicken salad w roast pumpkin, rocket and Israeli cous cous, combined together with the most unique yet moreish Pedro Ximenez Sherry Vinegar dressing! A really interesting dish for me, and something I had never come across before was the Beef brick pastry cigars w eggplant kasundi which is served with roasted cauliflower, walnuts, goats cheese, light caramelised balsamic dressing which was perfectly balanced and didn’t overwhelm the salad at all like I usually find with balsamic dressing!
The café only chooses products which they know and trust which means you can be assured they are only serving the best of whats available. They have close connections with the producers and focus on supporting local, with lots of organic options available as well! With a gourmet grocer attached, everything you try in the café is made sure to be available for purchase for you to recreate and use at home! Located in Paddington, it’s a beautiful spot for breakfast, lunch and soon available for dinner! With their recent launch of Twilight in the Epicerie which started last Friday! The evening dining includes the option to BYO (Liquor land next door) and enjoy one (or more!) of the selection of new dishes from the Gourmet Platter Menu! Feast with you and your friends on a Friday and Saturday night on charcuterie, cheese, antipasto, Lebanese Mezze variations of platters and accompany them with your favourite alcoholic (or non-alcoholic) beverages! You can definitely expect see me posting pictures of these Gourmet Platters with my biodynamic red wine in the very near future!, I cannot wait! And you should be excited to, especially because of the love and care they put into their business and menu. It was a pleasure to visit and I could tell by the local crowds that it certainly pleases the masses! Couldn’t be more worthy of a spot on your to do list!
