Denim Co, South Bank

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI recently visited what I consider to be one of the tastiest cafe’s in South Bank! While the park areas are lovely for picnics and visits, I have so often found it hard to find a cafe for lunch that breaks away from generic food items that the quite average take-away stores serve (without breaking the budget!). While the food and dining scene is improving over time, Denim Co has well and truly got their foot in the door early and certainly do deliver all types of goods!

We tried a selection of the items, both sweet and savoury, and gauged very quickly that every menu item was as delicious as the next – we were in for a seriously good breakfast!

Firstly, the mushrooms. Oh, the mushrooms. Sauteed with rosemary and spinach and served with perfectly poached eggs and goats cheese feta – we all have a soft spot for mushies and for those who get that little bit weaker at the knees over the favourite breakfast item most definitely need to get to Denim Co to try their deliciously creative twist on them!

The second savoury dish we tried was the Smoked Salmon with dill cream cheese, avocado and the most perfect rye toast that I have ever come by. Seriously, the taste of this rye toast still resonates with me to this day and it perfect demonstrates the hard work that Sofia and her team put into selectively sourcing only the highest quality ingredients.

Sofia explained to me their philosophy – nothing will ever be ‘good enough’, it has to be amazing and something that they themselves would love and enjoy. That probably explains why this breaky was the most morish start to the day, packed full of wholesome carbohydrates, plenty of omega-3s, the perfect dose of protein and healthy fats! With a fresh squeeze of lemon to bring it all together, your new fav summer breakfast sorted!

The sweet plate we shared, with hostility. I enjoyed the freshly made acai bowl with some of the crunchiest and chewiest house made granola! This granola is a sure standout for me so I was extremely grateful that they didnt hold back on its serving (a personal pet hate with some cafe’s acai bowls!). If it is possible to over-enjoy buttermilk pancakes, then Jack did exactly that, I didnt hear a word out of him during the entire time we spent on the sweet plate – until of course, he was fighting me for the acai bowl! I certainly fought back, this one was too good to pass over!

While we enjoyed breakfast menu, I felt it difficult to part after spotting the fresh salads, sandwiches, wraps and rolls that were ready to be enjoyed either take away or dining in! There was evencouscous salads in glass jars!! My two favourite items combined – salads and sustainable/reusable take away options! This place was well beyond growing on me, I felt very attached now!

We also left with a goodiebox filled with breakfast for the next day and some treaties that are on offer for those in-between-meal occasions! Firstly, the bircher in a jar! Once again, combination of food and sustainability – heaven. This bircher was too good to share, so good thing Jack offered his to a jealous family member when i was enjoying mine – I wasn’t budging (I’m not always as greedy as I may be making out to seem!). But it was a fair trade, i swapped the homemade Nona’s custard peaches – what was reported to me as the best dessert they had ever tried! No swapping involved with the Miss Bliss Bliss Balls! These are the healthy dessert option at Denim Co and it is so refreshing to see gluten & dairy free options like these available among delicious traditional desserts and treats!

Not only do they have amazing food, but they also have a conveniently located boutique next door. Stocking selectively chosen pieces from the most reputable brands and lines – the pieces available are exquisite. Think clothing from labels like J Brand, Sara Phillips, LIFEwithBIRD, Samvara, LILYA, Manning Cartell & American Vintage and then accessorise your look with some stunning pieces from labels like Sarah + Sebastian, Karen Walker Jewellery & Rachel Ruddick!

Im not a fashion blogger, but I do appreciate beautiful pieces of clothing and I also appreciate being assisted by staff who clearly know and radiate style. Sophia, the manager of the cafe and boutique is consistently dressed to impress, and personally, I’ll take whatever she is wearing! If South Bank is a treck or two for you, worry not, they have a flawless online store as well! http://www.denimco.bigcartel.com/products 🙂
