So I don’t upload these types of articles a lot because obviously, the blog is about healthy food and healthy dining options. BUT I am sure you are all well aware that what you put on the outside of your body is just as important as what you put on the inside!
Your skin is actually your largest organ and while we commonly look at is as a ‘barrier’ to inside, it is incredibly absorbent which means you have to be INCREDIBLY careful as to what you put on it!
I’m pretty simple with my skin care range, just as my mother is. We find good brands and we stick to them. We know what works for our skin type and if I can keep my skin integrity anywhere close to what my mother’s is, I’ll be one very happy lady.
When I say I’m ‘hesitant’ to try new products on the market it’s definitely an understatement, I’m almost petrified. Having had acne in high school, I’ll do almost anything to prevent going back there. But recently trialling new products have been more than worth it. The biggest pay off was switching to Sukin about two or three years ago. Since then, I haven’t even tried a different face wash, I stick to their Sensitive Cleansing Gel and will for as long as it’s available (plz don’t discontinue #willdie). But occasionally you need a little face clay, a little mask, a little ‘treatment’ and that’s where these new products come in. Enjoy!
It’s organic, it’s natural and it’s fair trade. It also smells f*@king delicious. I use it for a special treat in the shower about twice a week, because I literally do not want to waste it. I think it’s super important to have little ‘treats’ that make you feel good, just like this scrub does for me. It makes getting through a long day totally worth it – having a warm shower and smelling of delicious coffee means & mandarin afterwards #sogood. Not only do you end up smelling great, the scrub exfoliates, hydrates, nourishes and protects your skin PLUS actually helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, eczema and age spots #winning!! Definitely a recommendation for your weekly routine!
Hair products from a salon that dedicates itself to organic service are EXPECTED to be fantastic, but BARE Movement’s go beyond that. Their range, especially their hair care, is free of chemicals which is actually incredibly difficult to find! Specifically, they are free from ulfates, parabens, ethoxylates, paragons, propylene glycol, petrochemical cleansers, silicones, phthalates, DEA and artificial colours. It’s also 100% cruelty free AND ingredients are sourced from renewable estates within Australia. Their prices are so comparable to similar salon brands, which makes you think, what are the margins for the others that fill the containers with nasty chemicals and have limited regard for the sustainability of our environment? Oh, and BARE Movement’s containers are also 100% recyclable – environmental friendliness at it’s finest. If that’s not worth your dollar, I don’t know what is.
Remember, you VOTE with your dollar, so if you use your dollar to purchase unsustainable, unfair and cruelty-inflicting products then you are PROMOTING that industry, and I’m sure any decent person DOESN’T want that! So use your dollar to support brands that share the same ethical view as yourself – that’s why I support BARE Movement! That and the fact their Exfoliating Mask makes my skin feel like a babies butt #thatsmoothness
You guys know I am OBSESSED with Natalie and all she has to offer. Obviously her facials are AMAZING and something that I include in my personal and professional self care plans (more coming on self care plans!), but her online store is the latest aspect of Kindred that I am obsessing over! Natalie literally interrogates companies and products (that’s the best way to describe it!) to find the BEST that align with her own values and her client’s needs. All that effort and integrity means that at the end of the day, she has a range of small batch, hand crafted products that she offers from her studio and also online. And I love them all. Natalie consulted me to look for the ‘sensitive’ skin range and since then The Little Alchemist’s Kyella Rose Mist sits very close to my bed for the quick ‘touch up’ before I leave my room/house. It gives a beautiful dewy look while leaving me feel refreshed – no need for make up here ladies!
When I mentioned ‘the special things’ at the top – this is where my facial ‘special things’ have been coming from. And there is one YOU JUST NEED OKAY. It’s the Honey Cream Cleanser. HOLY GOD. With the CACAO MASK. I get it every time I get the facial with Natalie and I just had to buy some myself, to enjoy at home in bed between appointments. HONESTLY JUST TAKE MY WORD, YOU NEED THIS. You can literally SMELL the real ingredients and FEEL the difference. I just can’t.
P.s. Nat kindly discounted her services & products for KBSugarfree followers! You can get $20 off your first ritual (facial) by entering ‘KBsugar’ in the comments section when booking online. You can also get $20 off your first online order over $100 with the code word ‘KB20FREE’ (you also get free shipping with purchases over $100!). GET THE CACAO MASK – done.
